I wish I were a wolf cub
With teeth as sharp as nails
My tail would be so bushy
It would fly just like a sail
My nose would twitch so gently
Like the ears upon my head
My coat would be so silky
And warm in winters bad
My paws would have toes
With really massive claws
And my legs they would all carry me
To silver waterfalls
If I were a wolf cub
I really would be brave
And fish for all the salmon
That my tummy could save
I would leap with all my brothers
Into bushes and pools
And dig around the darkened soil
For fresh spring shoots
I would chase the fallen leaves
And chew up the twigs
That the winter winds blew to the earth
Especially for me
The snow would be my friend
On a harsh winters day
And the cave that I call home
Would be mine in old age
I wish I were a wolf cub
Chasing hunters with their guns
The truth is I will never be
Any more than what I am
I am just a tiny panda
Eating green bamboo
Too frightened to be anything
Outside of this great zoo
