Synopsis:
This poem explores a child's wonder at the beauty of nature as she leaves home for school.
I walk to my school
the weather pleasant and cool
I pass by the misty hill
which looks picturesque and still
Ah! Here are the baby herons
their voices screechy and shrill
Next comes the silent pond
of which I am so fond
the water lilies soothing and fragrant
in contrast with nearby lilacs so vibrant
Here comes my school at last
I rush before it is 9 past
