SYNOPSIS

This is a rhyming story about a lonely dog in a rescue centre who finds a home with a family whom he thought had overlooked him.

Children's Story: by

Why won't you look at me?
Am I too plain or small to be
A friend to you as those you've seen
And walked around the pasture green

Children's Story: by

I saw you twice today and smiled
But you walked on right down the aisle
Of cages full of barking dogs, like me
Who wants someone to love

Children's Story: by

I'm smart, I'm clever and I can run
To catch a ball for anyone
But for you I'd do most anything
If only you would just love me

Children's Story: by

I sit and wait, I listen too
As your gentle voice talks to the new
Small puppy on the other side
And I can see the way you smile

Children's Story: by

Perhaps you'll turn around and see
That I could be as playful too
As any puppy here for you
But then you turn and walk away
And I am here, another day

I wake at night and look around
The emptiness is full of sounds
Of silence in the darkened skies
And once again I close my eyes

I dream of warmth and firesides
Sitting by your feet at night
And summer days spent running free
But I am here, alone just me

I search the crowds for you most days
And people pass me by
I wonder if it's meant to be
But I know not the reason why

Then one sunny afternoon you came
Your voice was kind as you called my name "Two Five One"
That can't be me!
But, Yes! It is, it's really me!
I've found a home and family
Now I am loved that's all I need
