In shadows dark he'll rise and fall
In summers long his distant call
Will echo through the leafy lanes
His haunting cries hide secret tales
In wooden barns and country lanes
His shadow falls upon the fields
Atop the trees and gleaming streams
As silver water flows beneath
The moonlight glow upon the heath
With wings outstretched
He flies above the rooftops
Of a concrete world
And soaring over red tiled roofs
He bows again with silent sound
Effortless he draws his wings beside him
As his fall begins, in gentle spirals he turns
On summer winds he will return
The keeper of another world
The air is still as he once more
Returns to life above the hedgerows tall
And meets alone his friend and foe
Amongst the broken daffodils
As the distant sounds of tall green grass
Whisper softly on the wind,
The rustle of the leafy trees and the creaking of their boughs
Hide his secret life from a world beneath the clouds
