As soon as I lay down my head,
I hear a rustling 'neath my bed,
Quiet spreads throughout the house,
Except a squeak from Christmas mouse!
He visits this time every year,
And brings me lots of Christmas cheer,
I feed him nuts and candied fruit,
And if he's chilled, some chicken soup.
And, how he always looks so cute,
Dressed in his little Christmas suit,
Munching on some peanut brittle,
Looking like a Stuart Little!
Dresses like a Santa's elf,
So vain is he about himself,
Wears jingle bells upon his feet,
And don's a cap that's quite unique.
I offer him a piece of pie,
And giggle when he winks an eye,
Then wiggles nose that gives a sign,
He smells our Christmas tree of pine.
Some Figgie pudding waits for him,
In bowl beneath the veggie bin,
I heat some milk to wash it down,
Then dress him in his sleeping gown.
He won't be here when morning comes,
In thanks he'll leave some sugarplums,
My sweet and loving rodent friend,
Is gone 'til Christmas time again.
