SYNOPSIS
A child learns about sharing at Christmas
I got this apple just today,
along with toys with which to play.
'Twas such a happy time for me,
to romp and play and laugh with glee.
When I went out to taste the snow,
a cardinal dashed to and fro.
I sat down to enjoy my treat.
That bird and I, we chanced to meet.
I got prepared to take a bite,
when that bird jumped into my sight.
He seemed so wistful, all alone,
like some lost pup, begging a bone.
Then I recalled what Daddy said,
when he had sent me off to bed,
"Christmas is the best time to share,
so always give what you can spare."
Winter is hard for all the birds,
so I took heed of Daddy's words.
We sat and shared that apple bright
and all was joy that Christmas night.
