I saw it sitting on a shelf,
In the department store,
I looked beneath to see the price,
But you were worth much more.
I wrapped it up in coloured foil--
The green I thought looked best,
Then on it placed a big red bow,
To give it lots more zest.
You've had this love for Santa Claus,
Since you began to walk,
In fact, it was before the time,
You ever learned to talk!
But visiting the mall that day,
I couldn't help but buy,
This token of my Christmas love,
To make you heave a sigh.
The gift had music that it played,
You'd wind it up to hear,
And if you looked inside you'd see,
Some tiny, little deer.
And if you looked much deeper,
You would see a small, red sleigh,
That held inside Your Santa Claus,
Who's smile was oh, so gay.
Now, when this gift's turned upside down,
The snow begins to fall,
Upon the tiny village built,
Inside this gazing ball.
I couldn't wait to see your face,
When first you took a peek,
Then right away you turned to me,
And kissed me on the cheek!
Your gift is just a Snow Globe,
That I knew you would enjoy,
Besides, you'd punch me in the gut,
For just some stupid toy!
